What to Expect From the All-On-4 Procedure

After your consultation, digital x-rays, and precise dental measurements, your dental surgeon will take impressions of your teeth for the dental lab to use to create your dental implants. Once your implants are ready, we will schedule your All-on-4 dental implants procedure. On the day of your procedure, we will measure and mark the natural distance between your top and bottom jaws. You will then be placed under sedation and the titanium rods will be placed into the jawbone. The abutments will then be placed and the dental implants screwed into the abutments.

Your recovery time may vary depending on your overall health. Most patients feel better after a few days, and can return to their normal daily routine. The full time period necessary for your gums to heal and for the implants to fully fuse with the jawbone is around 3-8 months. For the first day or two after your procedure, you should rinse your mouth with salt water 3-4 times per day. You can take over-the-counter painkillers for pain, tenderness, inflammation, and swelling. Your dental surgeon will give you guidelines regarding when you can smoke and/or drink alcohol. You will need to eat soft foods for the first few months post-surgery. You can care for your dental implants the same way you care for your natural teeth, and you should visit your dental surgeon for regular checkups and cleanings.
