In our office we like to provide all the services that are possible. Part of the main goals of our practice is to establish relationships so we know people don't want to go to other dentists if they some kind of emergency or some kind of a situation they need addressed. We strive to be able to complete everything in our office, so in general dentistry, that means pretty much every procedure there is, is what we're going to try to accomplish for them.
Gentle Dental Cleanings & Exams
Our North Phoenix, AZ dental office is here to help you prevent dental problems, small or large. One way we can ensure your mouth is healthy is to provide thorough cleanings and exams. Yes, brushing and flossing at home is crucial. But without our specialized training and tools, you can’t keep your teeth truly clean. In some cases we can provide fluoride treatments and sealants to help keep your teeth free from cavities.
You will also get your teeth, gums, and mouth examined for any problems. Our DIAGNOdent system can spot cavities too small to see. Digital X-rays let us look inside your teeth and jawbone. We’ll even look for early signs of oral cancer.
Avoiding Periodontal Disease
The same bacteria that cause cavities can damage your gums. In the early stage of gum disease, called gingivitis, those bacteria live on the surface of your gums. This irritates the gum tissue, leading to problems like bad breath and sore, bleeding gums. Eventually, these bacteria can get inside your gums and infect the tissues there. If the disease becomes advanced, you can experience gums that recede from your teeth and possibly even lose your teeth. Our periodontal disease treatment can include a special dental laser that leaves healthy tissue alone but kills the bacteria. Typically, we don’t even have to numb your mouth for this procedure.
The Causes of Dry Mouth
A number of factors can cause dry mouth, a condition that can result in many problems. Saliva helps wash away tiny particles of food and drink that bacteria thrive on. Without enough saliva, your risk for cavities goes up. Dry mouth can also lead to halitosis, or chronic bad breath. We can help with Biotene rinses and laser treatments.
Relieve Jaw Tension, Grinding
Bruxism is the technical name for grinding your teeth unconsciously, especially at night. When this happens, you create worn spots on your tooth enamel. This weakens your teeth and increases your chances of getting a cavity. It can also damage your jaw joints creating TMJ pain. To combat this, our dentist can create a special mouthguard for you. It will protect your teeth from the damage caused by bruxism and relieve jaw discomfort.
Benefits of Nutritional Counseling
Everything you eat and drink goes past your teeth, so what you enjoy impacts your dental health. With all of the confusing and sometimes contradictory studies out there, it can be hard to know what’s healthy for your teeth or not. For example, diet soda corrodes your teeth despite being sugar-free. At your visits, we can discuss your diet and make recommendations that will help improve your dental health.
